BIOGRAPHY
Power of Music Productions is an independent company
that combines booking, promotion, and producing live
music events. "Event coordination" is the term
that company executive Andrew S. likes to use when
asked if Power of Music personnel are promoters or
booking agents. "We book the dates, the acts,
promote the show and run everything else from guest
lists to the sound engineers. We take on the roles
of promoters, agents and a whole lot more. "Unlike
most other business people doing similar things,
this company is run by a musician that understands
their language and overall needs." The "Power of
Music story is as follows......
My name is Andrew
Sulloew (pronounced Sue-Low) and music is my biggest
passion. In the late eighties, I was a local
teenage musician who had a dream of making it big
like all the bands I idolized growing up. I
practiced day and night (the bass guitar) and
basically would perform anywhere on any day at any
time. I also recorded when I could. Some of my
post bands include: "The Dreaded" (heavy metal)
"Jabba Joans What?" (alternative rock), and for a
short time: Second To None a hardcore/metal act,
that had broke the record of the legendary Ramones
for best draw ever in a Queens venue (412 persons).
(The record was previously held by The Ramones at
370, back in the late 70's. S.T.N. broke it in 1992.
Later broken by Zebra in 2000, and then by E Town
Concrete and finally Mad Ball, both in 2001) Like
most others, I found myself getting no where and fed
up with the local scene. I was not looking for
folks to roll out the red carpet every time I
played, (I did not even care if I had a stage), I
was just looking for a decent sound and a little
courtesy and respect. With all due respect to
the venues and the individuals who ran things, I
found that most of the people involved with the
local scene were more interested in making $$$ then
putting together a decent show. I vowed to one
day change that, and to a small degree I think I
have, with the help of my company: "Power of Music
Productions".
Power Of Music is an event
coordination company or simply a booking agency and
promotion co. rolled into one. Back in early 1995
I put this together along with a few good friends
and my girlfriend Donna, who is now my wife. We
started with one band and one place. Since then
over 2100 acts and 300 venues have come our
way. Our resumes include such acts as: Gilby
Clarke, Leif Garret, White Lion, LA Guns, Overkill,
Quiet Riot, Zebra, Original Iron Maiden vocalist
Paul Diano, Missing Persons, John Waite, Kittie,
Sponge, Crowbar, Slyvain Slyvain (New York Dolls).
as well as the venues : "Vibrations", The Kings
Club, The Voodoo Lounge, Mr. Beery's, The RedZone,
CBGBS Cranberries, Zebra Club and Webster Hall.
We
are proud to be the first promotion co, that
introduced L.I. to the now legendary acts: E Town
Concrete, Erocktica and Legend (now known as ZO2) as
well as the last to do the farewells of "The Vibrators"
and "The UK Subs".
Today, although Power of
Music is a profitable business, thge
individuals that run it care about musicians and
each show and every show. We pride ourselves in what we
know and who we are. We are looking to find people that love
listening to music and going to see local shows and
"club size concerts" in the New York area. Also
bands and musicians looking to perform and join open
jams/mics organized by myself and other
individuals.
Andrew's other passions include
journalism, poetry and other types of writing plus
watching films. He is a huge collector of both music
and movies and other types of rock n roll
memorabilia.
